Shorewomen Cap Season With Dominant 6-0 Win Over McDaniel

All Five Seniors Get On Score Sheet On Senior Day

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Host Washington College scored twice in the first half and added four more goals in the second half en route to a 6-0 win over visiting McDaniel in a Centennial Conference field hockey game played this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. It was also the season finale for both teams.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen got on the board with 19:55 to go in the first half on an Elizabeth Davis penalty stroke goal, which was awarded as McDaniel was defending a penalty corner.
- Washington doubled their lead to 2-0 with 4:14 to go in the half, as Jen Tordella found the back of the cage off of a pass from Kerri Estep. Estep beat a pair of McDaniel defenders to bring the ball inside of the shooting circle, then crossed the ball to Tordella, whose shot deflected off the stick of a McDaniel defender and into the cage.
- The Shorewomen held an 8-2 advantage in shots in the first half, putting seven of their shots on goal while holding the Green Terror without a shot on target.
- Washington extended the lead to 3-0 with 27:49 to go as Tordella got her second goal of the afternoon off a pass from Allison Remenapp. Tordella deflected Remenapp's pass high over the goalkeeper for the score, a play that started off of a penalty corner.
- The Shorewomen made it 4-0 with 20:20 to play, as Alison Pantazes finished off a centering pass from Maggie Cancelmo to extend the lead.
- Cancelmo scored her first career goal, deflecting home a pass from Remenapp, as Washington extended the lead to 5-0 with 17:29 to go.
- Alli Dudley capped the scoring with a penalty stroke goal with 6:45 to go to extend the lead to 6-0.

For the Shorewomen (6-11, 3-7 CC)
- Scorers: Tordella (2 goals), Davis (1 goal), Dudley (1 goal), Alison Pantazes (1 goal), Cancelmo (1 goal, 1 assist), Remenapp (2 assists), Estep (1 assist).
- Goalkeeper: Morgan Domanico (0 saves, 0 goals allowed, 70:00).
- The Shorewomen took 21 shots in the win and earned 13 penalty corners.

For McDaniel (5-12, 4-6 CC)
- Scorers: None.
- Goalkeeper: Elizabeth Collyer (4 saves, 2 goals allowed, 35:00), Christina Gooding (7 saves, 4 goals allowed, 35:00).
- The Green Terror took just four shots in the loss and earned three penalty corners.
- McDaniel was held without a shot on goal by the Shorewomen defense.

Notes
- The six goals scored by Washington today were their most ever goals scored against McDaniel. The previous high was five, which occurred in a 5-1 win in 1999.
- Today was the final game for seniors Davis, Remenapp, Dudley, Tordella, and Estep. All five seniors got on the score sheet today, as the senior class was honored before the game began.
- The senior class combined for 33 wins and made the Centennial Conference Tournament in 2014. They were also part of a Washington group that posted consecutive winning seasons in 2014 and 2015, the first teams to do so since the program had three straight winning seasons from 2001-2003.
- Davis finishes her career ranked fourth in Shorewomen program history in career points (88), goals (34), and assists (20).
