Storm Sets Career-High with 11 Points For Washington

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Matt Gnias for host Muhlenberg scored seven points in the final 3:11, including the go ahead bucket with 3:11 to go to break a 59-59 tie, and ignited a 9-3 game-closing run for Muhlenberg in a 68-62 win on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game at Memorial Hall.  The Mules improve to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen drop to 4-8 and 1-4 respectively.

How It Happened
- Trailing 9-6 with 16:13 left in the first half following two Nick Rindock free throws, the Shoremen went on an 11-4 run to take a 17-13 lead with 12:47 remaining in the half on a Cole Storm three-pointer.
- Tied at 17-17 following a lay-in by JeanLee Baez, the Shoremen went on an 11-4 run to take a 28-21 lead with 5:20 left in the half on two Austin Allen free throws.  It was Washington's second 11-4 run of the half.
- Muhlenberg would end the half on a 10-2 run to take a 31-30 lead into halftime.  The Mules grabbed their first lead in over 13 minutes on an Alex Mitton layup with two seconds left in the half as Mitton caught a long pass from Brendan Hughes.  The Mules held the Shoremen without a field goal for the final 7:35 of the first half.
- Leading 36-35 with 17:28 remaining in the second half following a traditional three-point play by the Shoremen's Tas Dixon, the Mules went on a 9-0 run to take a 45-35 lead with 14:41 remaining on a Rindock triple.
- Washington would counter with a 12-2 run of its own to level the game at 47-47 with 9:35 left on a conventional three-point play by Storm.
- With the score tied at 59-59, Gnias hit a jumper from near the free throw line to give the hosts a 61-59 lead with 3:11 left.  He would hit two more jumpers in a row with 2:17 and 1:35 remaining to give the Mules a 65-59 lead with 95 seconds to go.
- Spencer Duke would drain two free throws with 56 ticks left to make it 67-59 as Muhlenberg scored eight straight points in a 2:15 stretch.  The Mules scored nine of the final 12 points in the contest.

For The Shoremen (4-8, 1-4 CC)
- Storm (11 points), Dixon (nine points), Allen (six rebounds), Mike Winterburn (three assists), Dixon (two steals).
- The Shoremen shot 37% (19-for-52) from the floor, 39% (7-for-18) from three-point range and 65% (17-for-26) from the foul line. 
- Washington had 20 turnovers in the contest. 
- The Shoremen held a 40-39 edge in rebounds.
- WC outscored Muhlenberg in bench points, 28-24, and had a 9-4 advantage in second chance points.

For Muhlenberg (4-7, 2-3 CC)
- Rindock (game-high 17 points), Baez (game-high nine rebounds), Gnias (four assists), Owen McLeod (three steals).
- The Mules shot 38% (24-for-64) from the floor, 26% (5-for-19) from three-point range and 68% (15-for-22) from the free throw stripe. 
- Muhlenberg outscored Washington 22-20 in points in the paint and held an 18-7 advantage in points off of turnovers.
- The Mules had 12 turnovers in the game.

Notes
- Storm had his first career double figure scoring effort for Washington.
- The game was originally slated for Chestertown today, but was switched to Allentown due to a heating issue inside the Cain Athletic Center.  The two teams will play in Chestertown on January 27 at 1:00 p.m.
