Shorewomen Net First-Ever Result Against Fords in 0-0 Draw

Buscarino Makes Four Saves

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Visiting Washington College gained its first-ever result versus host Haverford on Thursday afternoon in a 0-0 tie at Walton Field in Centennial Conference women's soccer action.  The Shorewomen are now 4-6-3 overall and 1-4-2 in the Centennial, while the Fords are 10-1-2 and 4-0-2 respectively.  Prior to today's tie, Haverford had won the first 21 all-time meetings.

How It Happened
- Haverford's Celia Page had the team's first two shots on goal in the ninth and 19th minutes, but they were both saved by Washington goalie Annalie Buscarino.  They were the only two shots on target in the scoreless first half as the Fords held a 6-2 edge in shots.
- Page had a one-on-one with Buscarino in the 52nd minute, but she sailed her shot high and wide to the left from about 12 yards out.
- The Shorewomen had a scoring chance with just under 10 minutes left in the second half, but Elena Hilario's shot from the goal mouth went wide.
- With just over four minutes remaining, Haverford had a corner kick, but did not generate a shot off of it.  Both teams had three shots apiece in the second half as they match went to overtime 0-0.
- In the first overtime period, Katie King had Washington's best chance, but her shot was stopped on a team save by Lindsay Wytkind 2:25 into the session.  It would be the Shorewomen's final shot of the match.
- Four minutes later, Haverford was awarded a penalty kick following a foul in the box by the Shorewomen, but the penalty kick try by Leanne Ludwick went wide to keep the match scoreless and the contest would continue into the second overtime period.
- Ludwick in the 106th minute had a chance for the winner on a cross but her shot was just wide to the right.
- The last shot came from Haverford's Alyssa Saito with 83 seconds remaining in the second overtime in a one-on-one with Buscarino, but Buscarino was able to make a kick save and the Shorewomen cleared the ball.

For The Shorewomen (4-6-3, 1-4-2 CC)
- Scorers: None
- Goalkeepers: Buscarino (4 saves, 0 goals allowed, 110:00)
- Totaled six shots and two corner kicks for the match. 

For Haverford (10-1-2, 4-0-2 CC)
- Scorers: None
- Goalkeeper: Hannah Friedrich (1 save, 0 goals allowed, 110:00)
- Took 13 shots and registered five corners in the contest.

Notes
- This is the second time this season that the Shorewomen have picked up a result for the first time against a Centennial Conference opponent.  On September 28, Washington tied #5 Johns Hopkins 0-0 in double overtime.
- In the first 21 meetings, Haverford outscored Washington 76-2.
