Chatfield Scores off of Free Kick for Lone Score

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Freshman back Rachel Chatfield (Lovettsville, Va./Woodgrove) scored the lone goal of the match with 28:28 remaining in the second half on a free kick to give host Washington College a 1-0 win over visiting Stockton at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.  The Shorewomen improve to 5-7-3 overall, while the Ospreys drop to 13-3-2 on the season.

How It Happened
- Neither side scored in the first half, but Washington had the best chance in the 19th minute on a shot from Erin O'Reilly, but her shot went just wide to the right.  The Shorewomen took three of the five shots in the first 45 minutes.
- The Shorewomen drew a foul from about 35 yards out and on the free kick in the 62nd minute Chatfield's kick was misplayed by Ospreys' goalkeeper Olivia Murray and found its way into the net for the only goal of the afternoon on WC's lone shot of the final 45 minutes.
- In the 79th minute, Stockton thought they had earned a penalty kick, but an offside prior to the foul in the box negated the penalty kick try for the guests.
- Michelle Sander had Stockton's last shot of the contest, but her shot went wide left with 4:30 left.
