Buscarino Makes Eight Saves; Team Earns First Ever Win Or Tie Against Nationally Ranked Opponent

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Host Washington College earned a historic, scoreless double overtime tie with visiting and fifth ranked Johns Hopkins in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game played tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The result marks the first time in seven years that Johns Hopkins has been held without a goal against a Centennial Conference opponent.

How It Happened
- Emily Maheras had the first quality scoring chance of the night for the Blue Jays, putting a header shot just over the crossbar following a corner kick in the 9th minute.
- Cayla Marcinko took the only shot of the night for the Shorewomen in the 13th minute, a shot which missed wide to the left.
- Emma Billings put a header shot on goal in the 40th minute following a corner kick which was cleared off the goal line for a team save by Katie Brennan.
- Maheras put a header on goal during a corner kick with 27:59 to go which was saved by Shorewomen goalkeeper Annalie Buscarino. Maheras put another shot on goal with 25:42 to play which was also stopped by Buscarino.
- Maggie Coulson took a free kick and put the free kick on goal with 21:06 to play, forcing another save from Buscarino.
- Buscarino made the save of the game with 9:45 to go, stopping a shot from directly in front of the goal from Rachel Jackson following a corner kick and smothering the ball as it laid on the goal line.
- The Blue Jays had a shot from Maheras get blocked out of bounds with nine seconds to go and earned a corner, but could not get the corner off in time before the buzzer.
- The Shorewomen defense stood tall in both overtime periods, not allowing a single shot from Johns Hopkins in either the first or second overtime after the Blue Jays had managed to take 22 shots in regulation.

For the Shorewomen (4-3-2 Overall, 1-1-1 Centennial Conference)
- Scorers: None.
- Goalkeeper: Buscarino (eight saves, zero goals allowed, 110:00).
- The Shorewomen were credited with a team save courtesy of the goal line clearance from Brennan.

For #5 Johns Hopkins (7-1-2 Overall, 1-0-1 Centennial Conference)
- Scorers: None.
- Goalkeeper: Caitlin Hendricks (zero saves, zero goals allowed, 110:00).
- The Blue Jays held a 22-1 advantage in shots and took all 10 of the corner kicks in the contest.

Notes
- Buscarino was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player Of The Game on the webcast of the game for the third time in her career.
- Johns Hopkins entered tonight's game with a streak of scoring at least one goal in 68 consecutive Centennial Conference regular season games and 82 consecutive games against Centennial Conference opponents overall when factoring in Centennial Conference Tournament play. The last time the Blue Jays were shut out against a Centennial Conference opponent was a 2-0 loss against Muhlenberg in 2012.
- The draw tonight earned by the Shorewomen also snaps a 21 game win streak for Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference regular season games.
- This marks the first time in the 21 meetings between the two teams that Washington did not lose to the Blue Jays, who were a perfect 20-0 against the Shorewomen, outscoring them 99-3 in the process.
- With the draw, the Shorewomen pick up their first ever win or draw against a nationally ranked opponent.
