Brown Delivers Again in Shoremen's 92-91 OT Victory over Red Devils

Box Score

Brown Scores Career-Best 21 Points in Win as He Nets Winning Basket for the Second Straight Saturday

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Junior forward Daniel Brown (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) capped his career-best 21 points by rebounding his own miss with a layup with two seconds left in overtime to give host Washington College a 92-91 win in extra time over visiting Dickinson on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game at the Cain Athletic Center.  It was the second straight Saturday that Brown hit the winning shot as last Saturday at Gettysburg in double overtime banked in a three-pointer with two seconds left in a 100-99 win.  The Shoremen are now 6-11 overall and 4-6 in the Centennial, while the Red Devils are 2-15 and 2-8 respectively.

Washington College 92 Dickinson 91 (OT)

How It Happened
- Tied at 20-20 with 10:17 to go in the first half, Washington went on a 10-2 run to take a 30-22 lead with 7:25 remaining on a Tray Wright layup.
- Leading 32-28 following a three by Dickinson's Travis Dobbins with 3:40 remaining, WC closed out the first half scoring eight of the final 11 points to take a 40-31 lead into halftime.  Derrick Carter capped the scoring on a three-pointer with 18 seconds to go in the first half.
- In the second half, the Shoremen would push their lead to 15 points on three occasions, the final time coming with 10:28 left in the second on a free throw by Alec Lewis at 65-50.
- Over the next 3:03, Dickinson would outscore WC 16-3 to trim the lead to 68-66 with 7:25 to go on a traditional three-point play by Ryan Robinson.
- The Red Devils would finally level the game at 72-72 with 4:43 left on a Bryce Allen three-pointer.
- Washington would lead by four with 39 seconds remaining in regulation a Wright lay-in at 80-76 before Dickinson scored six of the next eight points to force overtime at 82-82.  The Red Devils took advantage of 2-for-4 foul shooting from the Shoremen in the stretch to tie the game with two seconds left on a KJ Holton layup.  After a WC turnover, Dickinson had a chance to win it, but Jack Tierney's shot was off the mark and the game went to overtime.
- In overtime, Dickinson led 91-88 with 2:03 remaining on two Chris Bates free throws and had a chance to go up five, but Holton missed a layup with 1:40 left and on the rebound Austin Allen was intentionally fouled and made both free throws to cut the lead to 91-90.
- Following a Bryce Allen miss by Dickinson with 21 ticks left Washington got the ball back.  With four seconds remaining Brown missed the jumper, but got his own rebound and netted the layup for winning points.  Dickinson's desperation shot was off the mark and Washington came away with the win.
