Shorewomen Volleyball Has Six-Match Win Streaked Stopped by McDaniel In Conference Opener

Westminster, Md. – The visiting Washington College volleyball team had their six-match winning streak stopped in their Centennial Conference opener by the McDaniel Green Terror on Wednesday evening. The Shorewomen fell to 6-5 (0-1) while the Green Terror improve to 5-8 (1-1).

How It Happened

First Set, McDaniel 27, WC 25
- The Shorewomen led 15-9 after a kill by senior middle hitter Jenna Daunoras.
- The visitors still led 20-17 after a kill by senior setter Jensyn Hartzell, however, the hosts evened the frame at 21 after Maddy Bigley recorded two straight kills.
- Washingon College had a couple of set points but were unable to put the Green Terror away.  
- A kill by Allyson Burgess eventually gave McDaniel the opening set.

 Second Set, McDaniel 25, WC 20
- Washington College again led early as they took a 7-5 advantage after a service error by the hosts.
- McDaniel went on a massive 13-4 run to take total control of the set as they led 18-11.
- The visitors managed to trim the deficit to 22-19 on a Hartzell kill but that was as close as they would get.
- The Green Terror closed the frame out after a service error.

Third Set, McDaniel 25, WC 15
- The Shorewomen raced out to a 6-1 lead as the squad scored four straight points with senior setter Lauren Zedlar serving. 
- The hosts recovered as they went on a 12-3 run to claim a 13-9 lead.
- The Green Terror extended to 20-12 and the Shorewomen were unable to recover.

Anna Jezerski (10 kills, 10 digs), Angalyn Strouse (9 kills), Bigley (9 kills), Brenna Campbell (31 assists)

Notes
- Washington College hit .063 (79 attempts, 22 kills, 17 errors) while the hosts hit .221 (95 attempts, 39 kills, 18 errors).
- The six-match win streak was the longest since Washington won eight straight in 2017.
