Westminster, Md. – The visiting Washington College field hockey team won their Centennial Conference opener, blanking the McDaniel Green Terror by a score of 3-0 at Gill Stadium. The Shorewomen improve to 5-3 (1-0) while the Green Terror fell to 2-7 (0-2). Washington College ousthot the Green Terror by a 17-2 margin and took 12 penalty corners compared to just three by the hosts. Freshman forward Freshman Kat Esposito scored a pair of goals to lead the way.

How It Happened
- The visitors dominated the opening quarter and finally got on the board with just thirty-four seconds left in the frame.
- Senior forward Maddie Knight came up with the key tackle at midfield with under a minute left to set up the score. Esposito made a run into the right side of the circle and smacked a back-handed shot inside the near post from 15-yards out past sophomore keeper Mikayla Smith. 
- Neither team managed a goal in the second quarter.
- The Shorewomen recorded six shots compared to just one by the hosts in the first half. 
- Washington College also had six penalty corners and limited McDaniel to just one attempt.
-  The Shorewomen made it 2-0 late in the third quarter as they capitalized on a penalty corner.
- Esposito scored from the top of the circle off an assist by sophomore midfielder Kate Gromacki with forty-seven seconds left. 
- The visitors added an insurance marker at 51:04 as junior forward Julianna Sterling sent a cross to the middle and senior midfielder Madison Parker re-directed the pass into the back of the cage.  It was the second marker of the season for Parker.
- Washington College ousthot the Green Terror by a 17-2 margin and took 12 penalty corners compared to just three by the hosts.

Notes
- The Shorewomen have now defeated McDaniel five straight times.
- Washington won their conference opener for the first time since 2017 when they defeated Gettysburg in double-overtime.
- Esposito has scored at least one goal in five straight contests and has a team-high nine goals.
