Washington College 2, Hood 0
How It Happened
- In the 11th minute, Chatfield lofted a gorgeous free-kick from 30-yards out into the box and O'Reilly made a run and was able to head it into the lower right corner of the net past the diving Hood goalkeeper Brenna Ellenberger.
- The same combination struck again less than three minutes into the second half as the result of another sensational free kick by Chatfield. This time, Chatfield booted a 50-yard strike from the sideline that found the head of sophomore midfielder Ellen Daly at the 20-yard line. Daly, who also was awarded an assist on the play, headed the ball backwards towards the net. O'Reilly was able to beat a defender and tapped the bouncing ball past the flatfooted keeper, who was injured on the play and left the game.
- Washington College controlled most of the play and outshot the visitors by a 16-4 margin. Hood had very few quality chances on net as the defense was steady for all 90 minutes. Senior netminder Noah Smith did not face a shot on goal.
