CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Swarthmore overcame a slow in the first set and held off a host Washington College comeback in the third set to come away with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-21) on Tuesday evening in Centennial Conference volleyball action at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium. The Garnet improves to 11-7 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 10-9 and 2-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- Washington won the first six points of the opening set and took a 10-3 lead on a kill by
Sylvia Johnson. The Shorewomen led 17-11 following an
Angelina Schaber kill before Swarthmore would win 12 of the next 18 points to tie the first at 23-23 on an
Angelina Heminway ace. Washington would take a 24-23 lead on a service error before Swarthmore won the next the two points to take a 25-24 lead on a
Trisha Razdan kill. WC won the next point on a hitting error, but Swarthmore won the next two points to win the first with a
Jordan Perry kill clinching it.
- The Garnet led 13-11 in the second set before going on a 12-3 run to end the set. Heminway tallied a kill for the 25th point for Swarthmore.

Kaylee Zhang gave Swarthmore a 17-7 lead in the third set before Washington went on a 12-4 run to cut the lead to 21-19 on a hitting miscue by the Garnet. Swarthmore however would win four of the last six points to win by four with Zhang tallying a finisher to conclude the set and match.

- The Garnet hit .235 in the contest, had five blocks and seven aces.
Notes
- Johnson had 11 kills on October 23, 2021, against Muhlenberg in her other 11-kill performance.
