Shoremen Battle Back From First Half Deficit But Fall At Ursinus, 86-75; Wright Enjoys Career Day

Tray Wright Poures In Career-High 25 Points

Collegeville, Pa. – The visiting Washington College Shoremen rallied all the way back from a 14-point first half deficit, but eventually fell to the Ursinus Bears, 86-75, in a Centennial Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at the Floy Lewis Bates Center. The Shoremen dropped to 4-19 overall and 1-15 in the league, while the Bears improve to 12-9 overall and 9-6 in the conference.

How It Happened
- Senior guard Tray Wright (career-high 25 points) opened the contest with a right-wing jumper, however, the Bears rattled off 13 unanswered points to take the lead for good in the opening half. Sophomore guard Trevor Wall, who pumped in a game-high 36 points, scored the final seven points during the run for the hosts.
- Ursinus extended their lead to 23-9 midway through the opening stanza after freshman guard Sean Neylon's floater in the lane.
- The Shoremen trimmed the deficit to 30-26 at the 4:42 mark after a jumper by freshman forward Precieux Tshibangu, which capped a 17-7 run. Sophomore guard Drew Fellows hit a pair of treys to spark the visitors during the stretch.
- The hosts answered back with a 9-3 burst to widen their lead to 39-29 after Neylon (10 points) delivered a jumper from the right-corner at the 2:11 mark.
- Ursinus settled for a 44-36 advantage at the break.
- Washington still trailed 50-41 after Wall banked in a short jumper with just under 18 minutes left, however the visitors embarked on a 12-3 stretch to even the game at 53-53 at the 14:27 mark. Wright scored eight points during the run, hitting a pair of long-range buckets and added the game-tying scoop in the lane. Sophomore guard Jason Zielinski also tossed in a trifecta during the stretch.
- Wall then splashed a trifecta from the left-corner to give the hosts the lead for good, 56-53, at the 13:40 mark.
- The Shoremen were still within 62-59 after senior guard Dilyn Becker's spinning layup with 9:30 left, however they were unable to get any closer.
- The Bears eventually widened their lead to 71-62 on another 3-pointer by Wall with 6:20 left. 
- Junior guard Nick Romeo brought Washington within 71-66 at the 5:05 mark but Ursinus scored 10 unanswered points over the next two minutes to put the game out of reach.

For the Shoremen
- Wright enjoyed a 9-for-15 shooting performance and added six rebounds in the contest. He made 2-of-6 attempts from distance and was 5-of-6 from the charity-stripe.
- Tshibangu tossed in a career-best 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting and also contributed five boards in 28 minutes.
- Sophomore guard Kedrick Frink, Becker, and Zielinski all finished with 10 points.

For the Bears
- Wall's 36 points were the most scored by a Shoremen opponent this season as he converted 12-of-17 field goal attempts, including 5-of-8 treys, and 7-of-8 free throws.
- Senior guard Trevor Hughes added 21 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals in a team-high 38 minutes. Hughes went 9-for-14 overall from the floor.

Notes
- The Shoremen shot a solid 43.5 percent (27-of-62) overall, went 7-of-24 (29.2 percent) from deep, and converted 14-of-19 (73.7 percent) from the line.
- Ursinus shot a red-hot 55.9 percent (33-of-59) from the floor, sank 36 percent (9-25) from deep, and went 11-of-16 (68.8) from the line.
- The Bears held a 37-29 advantage on the glass.
-Wright has now scored 20 or more points three times during his career.

"We had a slow start, which hurt us. I was proud that we battled back against a talented and well-coached Ursinus team. Down the stretch, we gave ourselves a chance to win, but missed executing to our capability during some critical possessions. We have one more week left in our season, and I'm looking forward to getting 1% better with this team!
