Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College women's soccer team dominated visiting Marymount (Va.), 4-0, on Sunday evening at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium and improved to 2-0 on the young season.

How It Happened
- The hosts had a golden opportunity just five minutes into the contest after senior back
Rachel Chatfield (Lovettsville, Va., Woodgrove) sent a gorgeous 50-yard pass up the center of the pitch to a streaking
Lauren Maynor (Ellicott City, Md., Howard). The senior found herself with a one-on-one opportunity against Saints' goalie Grace Needham, who made a nice sliding play to knock the ball loose after charging off her line. Senior midfielder
Katie King (Ambler, Pa., Upper Dublin) had an opportunity to find the open net after the deflection but her attempt from 20 yards sailed wide of the target.
- Junior forward
Audrey Flanagan (Huntingtown, Md., Huntingtown) then had a quality chance for Washington College in the 23' but her header from five yards out went over the center of the crossbar.
- The Maroon & Black finally broke through in the 29
' just after a throw in as freshman forward
Maddy Gaydon (Gettysburg, Pa., Gettysburg Area) tapped in a centering cross from Flanagan. Flanagan carried the ball to the endline along the far post and found Gaydon free in the center of the box.
- The Shorewomen struck again just three minutes later after being awarded a penalty shot due to a hand ball that was whistled against freshman defender Mary Sophia Diggs. Junior midfielder
Ellen Daly (Locust, N.J., Rumson-Fair Haven Regional) converted the miscue with a hard shot into the lower right corner of the net.
- Washington College completed their first half barrage with a pretty goal in the 40' by junior midfielder
Grace Kelley (Schwenksville, Pa., Souderton Area). Classmate
Rory Miller (Henrico, Va., Godwin) initiated the play with a short pass to the near corner that found Daly. Daly then hit Kelley with a picture-perfect cross to the far post and the junior knocked it in from five yards out.
- The Shorewomen added an own goal with five minutes left in the contest.
