CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Dickinson's
Lindsey Hollenshead scored the game-winning basket with 1.7 seconds left to complete a comeback in a 56-54 win over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in Centennial Conference women's basketball action. The Red Devils, who trailed by as many as 22 in the game, improve to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the conference, while the Shorewomen are now 8-4 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen jumped out to a 15-1 lead following two free throws by
Joy Sanders with 1:21 left in the opening quarter.
- Hollenshead would score the Red Devils' first field goal on a layup with 47 seconds to cut the lead to 15-3. Sanders converted a jumper in the paint with three ticks left to give WC a 17-3 lead after one.
- In the second quarter, Washington would score 12 of the first 16 points to take its biggest lead of the game of 22 points, 29-7, with 3:33 remaining on a
Kiersten Rose transition lay-in.
- Dickinson would score the next nine points to reduce the WC lead to 13 points, 29-16, with 1:12 left on two
Clair Marion free throws.
Kaitlyn Boggs would net two from the line 10 seconds later to give the hosts a 31-16 lead and that would be the halftime score.

Bryson Ostrum would open the second half scoring with a pair of free throws to give the Shorewomen their biggest lead of the second half, 33-16, with 8:27 to go.
- Dickinson was able to cut the lead to 11 at the end of three, 45-34, with Marion converting a bunny with 1:12 to go to round of the quarter scoring.
- The guests trailed 52-41 with 6:43 left in the game following a traditional three-point play by Boggs before scoring the next 13 points to take their first lead of the game, 54-52, with 1:06 to go on a Marion three-pointer. The run started on a
Caitlin Blackman layup with 6:03 to go as Dickinson.
- Sanders would tie the game at 54-54 on a layup 13 seconds later on a pass from Ostrum.
- Marion would miss a three with 36 seconds left and Sanders would grab the rebound to allow WC to have a chance to take the lead, but on the ensuing possession the Shorewomen threw the ball away and the Red Devils got the ball back with 22 seconds left.
- On the game-winning possession, Blackman found Hollenshead whose shot from the just inside the three-point line at the top went in to put the visitors ahead 56-54.
- Dickinson's
Kate Montgomery picked off the inbounds pass at midcourt on the final play of the game to seal the win.
For The Shorewomen (8-4, 4-3 CC)
- Sanders (team-high 14 points and game-best 12 rebounds), Boggs (two steals),
Andrea Prestianne (three assists)
- WC shot 36% from the floor (20-for-55), 0% from three-point range (0-for-10) and 88% (14-for-16) from the foul line in the game.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 29 times, while holding the edge on the glass, 52-33.
- WC outscored Dickinson in points in the paint, 26-20, transition points, 8-0, and second chance points, 8-6.
For Dickinson (9-3, 6-1 CC)
- Marion (game-best 18 points and six rebounds), Hollenshead (six boards),
Jenna Weinstein (three assists and three steals), Montgomery (two blocks)
- The Red Devils shot 26% from the floor (18-for-61), 12% from three-point land (2-for-17) and 69% from the foul stripe (22-for-32).
- Dickinson had 10 turnovers in the game.
- The guests outscored the hosts, 12-10, in bench points and 18-9 in points off turnovers.
Notes
- Sanders has three double-doubles this season and four for her career. Her 12 boards ties her personal-best that she had against New Jersey City University on December 29.
