CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College men's soccer played host to Johns Hopkins on Kibler Field Friday night in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Tournament. Johns Hopkins struck first in the match through a solo effort from Ben Goodman. Moments into the second half, Hopkins made it 2-0 through a 40-yard lob by Jonathan Cui. The Shoremen pushed after falling behind by two, hitting the post and seeing a penalty kick saved, but were unable to find goal as Hopkins advances to Sunday's championship game against Muhlenberg.Â

How It Happened
- Ben Goodman opened the scoring in the 12
th minute of the match. Goodman took control of the ball on the right-hand side, cut in on his left foot and laced the ball into the top right-hand corner of Shoremen keeper
Anthony Pinto's net. Washington did not have an effort on target until the 33
rd minute when
Ben Strine shot from over 30 yards, Hopkins keeper Drew Valsamedis gathered the effort comfortably. That would be all of the action in the first half with the visitors in front.Â

-Just under 30 second into the second half, the visiting Blue Jays doubled their lead. Jonathan Cui picked up the ball in the middle of the field, spotted Pinto off his line and let loose from over 40 yards. Cui's effort lobbed Pinto and went into the net via the post for a 2-0 lead.Â

-Shortly after going down 2-0, Washington struck the post on a corner kick. Washington had its best chance to get back into the match with just over 20 minutes remaining when
Shepherd Koffie was brought down in the box for a penalty.
Chris Comber stepped up for the Shoremen but saw his attempt saved by a diving Valsamedis.Â
