Shorewomen Top Mustangs, 65-56

Boggs Tallies Career-High 16 Points and Pulls Down 10 Rebounds En Route to Second Career Double-Double

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College got a career-best 16 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore center Kaitlyn Boggs (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) for her second career double-double in a 65-56 win over visiting Stevenson on Tuesday night at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in non-conference women's basketball action.  The Shorewomen improve to 4-3 overall, while the Mustangs drop to 3-4.

How It Happened
- Washington took a 14-6 lead with 4:58 to go in the first quarter on a layup by Karry Kelliher.
- Stevenson would close out the stanza on a 9-2 run to cut it to 16-15 after one on a three by Amoni Taylor with six seconds to go.
- The Mustangs outscored the Shorewomen 14-13 in the second to tie the game at 29-29 at halftime. 
- WC, who scored the last three points of the second, scored the first 10 points of the third to take a 39-29 advantage with 6:09 remaining in the third on a jumper by Abby MeredithEmma Robinson put Washington ahead for good 12 seconds into the third on a three-point basket.
- The Shorewomen would take a 49-39 edge into the fourth quarter, outscoring the guests 20-10 in the third.
- In the fourth, Stevenson got it to within five, 61-56, with 1:47 remaining on a Tessa Boswell triple, but Washington scored the final four points to close it out.

For The Shorewomen (4-3)
- Boggs (career-best and team-leading 16 points and 10 rebounds to tie for game-best; four assists), Kelliher (13 points, four assists, two blocks and two steals), Serena Pluta (10 points), Robinson (10 rebounds and four assists)  
- WC shot 38% from the floor (23-for-61), 20% from three-point range (2-for-10) and 65% (17-for-26) from the foul line in the game.
- Washington held a 45-33 advantage in rebounds in the win.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 10 times.
- WC outscored Stevenson points in the paint (30-20), points off turnovers (15-5) and second chance points (10-6).

For Stevenson (3-4)
- Boswell (game-best 22 points; 6-for-7 from three-point range), Elia Richardson (11 points and two blocks), Destiny Towns (eight rebounds), Erin Dixon (three assists and two steals), Emori Jeselskis (three assists)
- The Mustangs shot 39% from the floor (20-for-52), 41% from three-point land (9-for-22) and 44% from the foul stripe (7-for-16).
- Stevenson outscored Washington, 17-13, in bench points and 2-0 in transition points in the game.
- The Mustangs lost the ball 17 times in the contest.
Notes
- Boggs was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the game.  She tallied her second career double-double with her first coming last season on January 12, 2023 versus Swarthmore.
- Washington leads the all-time series over Stevenson, 8-1.
