Shoremen Drop Finale to Mules, 86-70

Corrao scores 23 in defeat.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. –  The Washington College men's basketball went up to Muhlenberg for the final contest of the 2022-2023 season. The Shoremen kept pace early behind a hot shooting start from Sam Corrao (Jr./Salfrod, Pa.) and Kedrick Frink (Jr./Sunderland, Md.). Corrao hit four threes and finished with 14 points in the opening half. Frink helped out with eight of his own but the Mules finished the opening half with a 17-6 run to build a 16-point lead. They managed to keep that double-digit lead the rest of the way for a 86-70 win.

How It Happened
- Corrao could not miss in the opening ten minutes, hitting three triples in that time frame. Frink managed to score as well but the rest of the Shoremen only scored five points in the first half.   
-Holding a 26-21 lead, Muhlenberg got a spark when Jayson Williams-Johnson scored seven straight points over the next 1:20. He added two more to head into the locker room with a team-high nine points. Bryce Nash added eight points as the Mules led 43-27 at the break.  
- The Shoremen kept pace through Kedrick Frink in the first ten minutes of the second half but a 9-2 by the Mules pushed the lead to 17 with just over seven minutes remaining. Corrao stayed hot in the second half to finish with 23 but the Mules held a double-digit lead for almost the entire second half for a 86-70 win. 

For The Shoremen (3-21, 2-16 CC)
- Sam Corrao paced the Shoremen with 23 points and a game-high 5 triples. Kedrick Frink added 20 points 20 points and five assists. 
- Washington shot 41% from the floor (25-for-61), 29% from three (7-for-24) and 81.3% from the free-throw line (13-for-16). 

For Muhlenberg (17-8, 12-6 CC) 
- Giovanni Rubino led the way for the Mules with 19 points. Tommy McGuire and Williams-Johnson both reached double-figures with 17 and 11 respectively. 
- The Mules shot 54.4% from the floor (31-for-57), 40% from three (6-for-15) and 66.7% from the foul line (18-for-27).
