YORK, Pa. – Host #12 York (Pa.) scored the last five goals of the first quarter to take the lead for good on its way to a 14-9 win over visiting Washington College on Wednesday night at Kinsley Field in a non-conference women's lacrosse game. Junior defender/midfielder
Abby Laubach (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) became the 14th Shorewomen Lacrosse player to reach 100 career draw controls. It was the season opener for the Spartans, while the Shorewomen drop to 2-1.

How It Happened

Morgan Sutherland gave the Shorewomen a 2-1 lead with 12:33 left in the opening quarter on an unassisted score.
- York would begin its five-goal run to end the first with 10:27 left on a
Sydney Mentzer goal to tie it at 2-2 on a pass from
Teresa Matthias.
Gianna Huet put the hosts ahead for good with 7:02 remaining in the first with
Zoe Kluegel netting the helper, 3-2.

Madison Kurland capped the five-goal run with seven ticks left from Matthias to give the Spartans a 6-2 advantage after one.

Ellie Morrall ended the run with a free position goal with 9:09 to go in the second quarter to trim the lead to 6-3.
- The Spartans would score three of the final four goals of the second to take a 9-4 lead into halftime as
Kiersten Blanchard scored with 29 seconds left to close out the quarter scoring.
- After Matthias made it 10-4 with 12:07 left in the third quarter, Washington would score the next three to trim the lead to 10-7 with 6:16 remaining on a Morrall score.
- York responded with the last two of the third to make it 12-7 after three with Blanchard giving the hosts a five-goal lead entering the fourth with 26 seconds left on a free position.
- Both teams scored twice in the fourth quarter with Laubach winning her 100th all-time draw with 2:33 to go in the game with York ahead 14-8.

- The Shorewomen won 15 of the game's 26 draw controls.

- Laubach is now tied with
Rachel Bartee '12 for 13th on the all-time list with 100 all-time draws.
- Laubach became the second Washington player to earn her 100th career draw this season as Morrall earned her century mark draw last Wednesday at FDU-Florham.
