Shorewomen Fall at #5 Salisbury

Shorewomen play hard until the end but deficit too much.

SALISBURY, Md. – The Washington College women's lacrosse teams travelled to Salisbury on Saturday to take on the fifth ranked Seagulls. Abby Laubach opened the scoring as the Shorewomen held and early 2-1 lead. The Seagulls scored three straight to end the first. After a quiet second frame from both teams, Salisbury scored the first four goals of the third period to build a 9-2 lead. They rode the run all the way to a 9-6 win.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen started the game well, scoring two of the first three goals to take an early lead. Salisbury answered to take a 4-2 lead after one. The Seagulls also scored the only goal of the second period to take 5-2 advantage at half.  
 
-Salisbury racked up five straight to start the third period to take a 9-2 lead. The Shorewomen attack was unable to get going as the Seagulls managed the game with the big lead. 
 
- The Shorewomen fought until the end, scoring three goals in the final five minutes to make things interesting but the Seagulls lead was too much as they held on for a 9-6 win. 
   
For The Shorwomen (2-2)
- Scoring: Ellie Morrall (two goals), Abby Laubach (two goals), Mia Salvatierra (one goal), Ashley Devlin (one assist) and Morgan Sutherland (one assist).
- In Goal:  Sydney Wingate (5 goals allowed, 5 saves), Markley (0 goals, 2 saves). 
-The Shorewomen finished 14-for-16 on clears. Salvatierra led the Shorewomen with three ground balls. 

For The Seagulls (4-1)
- Scoring: Riley Hartman (two goals), Emma Skoglund (two goals), Mary Hanzsche (two goals, two assists), Leah Vilov (one goal), Price (one goal), Miranda Mears (one goal), Caroline Knight (one goal) and Lauren Hackett (one assist)
- In Goal:  Gabriella Dorsey (4 goals allowed, 6 saves), Kaitlyn Hunsinger (2 goals, 4 saves). 
- Salisbury finished 17-for-19 on clears with Madeline Davis taking in a game-high four ground balls.
