#10 Diplomats Too Much for Shorewomen, 21-10

Devlin and Morrall Score Three Times; Morrall Moves Into Second Place at WC in All-Time Draws

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #10 Franklin & Marshall scored the game's first four goals and led 12-4 after one quarter on its way to a 21-10 win over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.  The Diplomats are 10-3 on the season and 5-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen are 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

How It Happened
- Franklin & Marshall scored the game's first four goals in a span of 1:32 with Maddy Birch scored unassisted to make it 4-0 with 11:20 left in the first quarter.
- Ellie Morrall scored on a free position 15 seconds after Birch's goal to get the Shorewomen on the board, 4-1.
- After MaryCate Anson trimmed the lead to 6-2 on a free position with 7:28 to go, the Diplomats scored seven of the next eight goals to take an 11-2 lead with 1:00 left in the opening stanza on a goal by Lydia Cassilly.
- Morrall scored a pair of up goals in the final 40 seconds with the second one coming with 2.9 seconds left on a free position as F&M lead 12-4 after one.
- Ashley Devlin would score her second goal of the second quarter from Morgan Sutherland to reduce the deficit to 13-6 with 9:28 remaining, but that's as close as WC would get the rest of the game as F&M outscored the hosts, 3-1, the rest of the second to lead 16-7 at halftime. 
- The Diplomats held a 3-1 edge in the third quarter, while the Shorewomen outscored the guests, 2-1, in the fourth stanza to provide the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (6-6, 2-3 CC)
- Scoring: Devlin and Morrall (three goals and assist), Sutherland (goal and helper)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (15:00, one save, 12 goals), Emily Markley (39:28, four saves, eight goals), Gianna Maggi (5:32, one save, one goal)
- Madison Maguire (five draw controls to lead all players)
- The Shorewomen had three caused turnovers and picked up 10 ground balls.
- WC went 9-for-10 in clears and 4-for-6 in free position shots.

For #1 Franklin & Marshall (10-3, 5-0 CC)
- Scoring: Lauren Pittman (game-high six goals), Cassilly and Gillian Brennan (three goals and two assists), Birch (three goals), Lane Lambeth and Sydney Lowe (two goals)
- In Goal: Alyssa Moran (41:58, two saves, eight goals and four ground balls), Molly Donatelli (18:02, two goals, one stop)
- Madison Bray (game-high three ground balls), Belle Dintino (four draw controls)
- The Diplomats, who held a 33-18 advantage in shots, went 11-for-13 in clears and had five fewer turnovers than WC, 13-8.
- Franklin & Marshall went 3-for-4 in free position chances, totaled 11 ground balls and recorded eight caused turnovers.

Notes
- Morrall was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game on the broadcast.  The senior won four draws and is now second all-time at Washington in career draws at 166.  She trails Emily Hubley '15, who has 212 all-time draws.
