Red Devils Fend Off Fourth Quarter Charge from Shorewomen, 10-8

Deviln, Morrall and Sutherland Score Twice for WC

CARLISLE, Pa. – Host Dickinson jumped out to a 9-4 lead early in the fourth and withstood a four-goal run from visiting Washington College to hold on for a 10-8 win on Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.  The Red Devils improve to 9-5 overall and 3-4 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

How It Happened
- Tobin Chambers scored the first goal of the game with 6:33 to go in the first quarter on a pass from Mia Salvatierra.
- Dickinson scored the next two to take a 2-1 lead after one with Emma Wynne scoring with 1:21 left from Liv Yeagle to put the home team ahead for the rest of the game.
- Leading 3-2 late in the second quarter, Wynne scored her second goal of the game with 3:11 to go before halftime on a pass from Delaney Herbert.  The Red Devils took a 4-2 advantage into halftime.
- The Shorewomen scored two of the first three goals in the third quarter to trim the hosts' lead to 5-4 with 11:12 to go on an Anna Wilson score from Salvatierra.
- Dickinson would respond with the last three of the third to lead 8-4 after 45 minutes with Faith Parker scoring unassisted with 2:30 left capping the scoring in the quarter.
- Yeagle scored from Herbert 97 seconds into the fourth quarter to cap a 4-0 run for the hosts and put the Red Devils ahead by five.
- Ashley Devlin started a 4-0 run for the Shorewomen with 12:11 to go and would finish the run with 5:18 to go to trim the Dickinson cushion to just one at 9-8.  Ellie Morrall scored both middle goals during the run in a span of 82 seconds.
- After MaryCate Anson forced a turnover with about four minutes left, WC failed on the ensuing clear and Dickinson got the ball back and with 2:24 left Liz Barroll scored unassisted to make it a two-goal game and finish the scoring on the day.

For The Shorewomen (7-7, 3-4 CC)
- Scoring: Devlin, Morrall and Morgan Sutherland (two goals), Salvatierra (two assists)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, seven saves, 10 goals)
- Morrall (six draw controls and two caused turnovers), Wilson (four ground balls), Alexis Tackney (two caused turnovers)  
- The Shorewomen outshot the hosts 29-27 and had nine caused turnovers.
- WC went 17-for-19 in clears, went 1-for-5 in free position shots and picked up 23 ground balls.

For Dickinson (9-5, 3-4 CC)
- Scoring: Wynne (game-high three goals), Yeagle (two goals and assist), Herbert (goal and two assists), Faith Parker (two goals), Barroll (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Peyton VanDorpe (60:00, 10 saves, eight goals and game-bests of seven ground balls and four caused turnovers)
- Caroline Pirone (six draw controls)
- The Red Devils went 17-for-20 in clears and had two more turnovers than WC, 18-16.
- Dickins went 0-for-3 in free position chances, totaled 21 ground balls and recorded 10 caused turnovers.

Notes
- Both teams won 11 draws in the game.

- Shorewomen won both meetings in 2022, 15-6 in the regular season on April 27 and a week later on May 4 in the conference tournament, 10-6.  WC has won 10 straight in the series.
