Â
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.– Washington College softball continued play in the Centennial Conference Tournament on Saturday at host Ursinus College. The Shorewomen's first game was against Swarthmore in the winner's bracket with a trip to the championship series on the line. Washington took the first lead of the game but a solo homer by Emily Bertrand put the Garnet out in front for good in a 3-1 win.Â
Â
Game two saw Washington take on Ursinus in an elimination game. The Bears were fresh off a win in an elimination game earlier in the day against Dickinson by a score of 9-1. They looked to stay hot with the bats but Shorewomen starter
Lexi Barnhart kept them quiet early. The Bears then struck with two runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead. Washington threatened all afternoon but could not manage the big hit. With the bases loaded in the seventh, the Shorewomen scored from a
Hannah Solge sacrifice-fly but could not scratch across anymore in a 2-1 defeat.Â
