Anthony Pinto pushed a Rowan effort onto the post halfway through the first half. Washington's
Zak Burgess fired an effort onto the post shortly. Just before halftime, Rowan was penalized for a handball in the box, Senior
Ben Strine stepped up for the Shoremen and fired it home for the only goal in a 1-0 home victory.Â

How It Happened
- Neither team produced an effort on target until the 25
th minute of the opening half when Rowan's Johnny Troiano found some space on the right win. Troiano cut back onto this left and fired a goal-bound shot that forced Shoremen keeper
Anthony Pinto to dive to his right side and tip the effort onto the post. Ten minutes later, it was Washington rattling the post as
Zak Burgess fired a shot onto the near post after the ball broke to him in the area.Â

-The breakthrough came in the 37
th minute after the Shoremen were given a penalty kick from a Rowan handball in the box.
Ben Strine stepped up and slotted it home into the left side of the net to give Washington a 1-0 lead into the break.Â

-Washington had a chance to push the lead to two halfway through the second half when Burgess was played in on goal. Prof keeper Dylan Aportela to make a body save out of the penalty area. The second half produced little efforts towards goal. Rowan's Jason Barragan received a second yellow card with just over six minutes remaining. The 10-man Profs produced a scramble in the final minutes after a long throw but shot-wide as the clock went to zero. Â

- The Profs took eight shots in the contest with three on target and had two corners. Aiden McGuigan, Luke Yates and Turlough Gartlan were yellow carded. Jason Barragan received a red card after two yellow card offences.Â
