Shoremen Draw at York

Njie scores first goal for Washington.

YORK, Pa. – Shoremen soccer headed north to York to take on the Spartans in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night. The Shoremen started fast with a Katim Njie (Junior/Montgomery Village, Md.) goal inside the opening six minutes as he finished off a through ball from Harrison Malone (Senior/Media, Pa.). They would hold that advantage until ten minutes into the second half when York's Brayden Safley headed home the equalizer. Washington continued to pepper the York goal but could not find a second finish as the two teams settled for a draw.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen opened up the scoring early in York as Njie raced through on goal from a pass by Malone. Njie took control and fired a shot into the back of the net from a tight angle. They continued to push, adding another four shots before the break but failed to test the keeper. York could only muster up one effort on target as the Shoremen took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

- York leveled things up early in the second half when Brayden Safley headed home a cross by Luke Nall just 12 minutes in. Washington continued to push for a winner, finishing the game with 16 attempts but York keeper Michael DiPierro made five saves to keep the draw intact for York.
