Shoremen Fall to Mules 90-61

Bland Leads the Way with 18 Points

Allentown, Pa. - The Washington College Shoremen traveled to play the Muhlenberg Mules in their second matchup of the season with the Mules winning the second meeting of the season 90-61 on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Hall in Centennial Conference men's basketball action.  Muhlenberg took the first contest 62-56 in Chestertown on January 6. The Mules improve to 7-12 overall (6-6 CC), while the Shoremen fall to 3-16 (1-11 CC).

How It Happened
- WC's Sam Corrao struck first 48 seconds into the game with a three pointer to put the Shoremen on the board first.
- The Mules would score the next 15 points, five of them coming from Giovanni Rubino to lead 15-3 with 14:57 remaining in the opening half on two Rubino free throws.  Muhlenberg would not trail again after the 15-0 run. 
- At the break, the Mules held a 49-31 lead over the visiting Shoremen.
- In the second half, the Mules would take the largest lead of the afternoon with a 33-point margin, 90-57, with 3:38 left in the contest.
- The Shoremen were outscored in the second half 41-30.
 
For The Shoremen (3-16, 1-11 CC)
- Davis Bland (team-highs of 18 points and two blocks), Paul Rodolf (nine points and team-best two steals), Jason Zelinski (nine points, three rebounds) 
- The Shoremen shot 25-58 (43.1%) underneath, 6-21 (28.6%) from three, and 5-7 (71.4%) at the line.
- WC had 12 turnovers in the game.
- Washington outscored the Mules in bench points, 28-7, and in the paint 26-24.
 
For Muhlenberg (7-12, 6-6 CC)
- Brandon Goldberg, (team-bests of 21 points and 10 rebounds), Rubino (20 points, squad-high nine assists), Jayson Williams-Johnson (18 points and two steals).
- The Mules shot 28-53 (52.8%) from the floor, 15-30 (50%) from the arch, and 19-21 (90.5%) at the foul line.
- Muhlenberg turned the ball over 11 times, while outrebounding Washington 36-25.
- The hosts outscored the guests in second chance points, 9-4, and points off turnovers, 18-10.
- Rubino went a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.
