How It Happened

  • Hopkins got out to a 5-0 lead on the Shorewomen in the first set until a kill by Izzy Diehl gave the Shorewomen their first point of the match. Allison McKechnie followed that point up with a service ace moving the score to 5-2. The Shorewomen brought the score to one point as an attack error by The Blue Jays moved the score to 12-11 in favor of the Blue Jays. The Shorewomen would fall in the first set 25-16 off an ace and a final kill from The Blue Jays to end the set.
  • The Shorewomen were up 3-2 in the second set thanks to kills by Diehl and Colette Franck, until a kill by The Blue Jays tied the score up. The score was 6-4 in favor of The Shorewomen until The Blue Jays would go on a four-point run to start to pull away. The Shorewomen earned a two-point run when Johns Hopkins led 17-9. A Franck kill and an attack error by The Blue Jays brought The Shorewomen's score to 11. The Shorewomen earned seven more points, but they could not put The Blue Jays away as they fell 25-18.
  • The third set would be the closest of the game through 10-10. The Blue Jays would go on a seven-point run before The Shorewomen could earn a point back 17-11 off an attack error by The Blue Jays. Hopkins did not let that point get to them as they got the ball right back and were able to bring the score to 20-17 before a block by Logan Kenny and Diehl gave The Shorewomen the ball back. Kenny dished up an ace and brought the score to 20-13. The Shorewomen would score thrice more before surrendering the third set 25-16.
