Shoremen Comeback to Top Nittany Lions, 56-51

Bland Tallies 18 Points to Tie for Career-Best and Grabs Personal-High 11 Rebounds for First All-Time Double-Double

ABINGTON, Pa. – Visiting Washington College used a 24-10 second half run to turn a 34-27 deficit into a 51-44 lead on its way to a 56-51 win over visiting Valley Forge on Tuesday night in a non-conference men's basketball game in the Athletic Building.  The Shoremen are now 4-2 on the season, while the Nittany Lions fall to 0-5.

How It Happened
- Ethan Schwantes capped a 7-0 run for the Shoremen to give Washington its biggest lead of the first half of six points at 11-5 with 9:46 to go in the first half.
- Trailing 17-14, the host Nittany Lions outscored the Shoremen 8-2 in the final 3:09 of the first half, taking the lead on a three-pointer with 39 seconds left as PSU Abington took a 22-19 lead into halftime.
- PSU Abington took a 34-27 lead to cap a 10-0 run with 14:47 to go.
- Nolan Waldon would start the decisive 24-10 run on a layup 20 seconds later to cut the lead to 34-29.
- Davis Bland would put the Shoremen ahead for the rest of the game 41-38 on a three with 7:46 to go in the game.
- Bland would connect on another triple with 4:02 left in the second half to cap the run and give WC a 51-44 advantage.
- A three by the Nittany Lions cut the lead to 54-51 with 15 ticks left, but Schwantes canned two from the foul line with 12 ticks left to cap the scoring.

For The Shoremen (4-2)
- Bland (team-bests of 18 points and 11 rebounds for first career double-double; two steals), Waldon (15 points and two steals), Nicho Simes (four assists)
- The Shoremen shot 36% (18-for-50) from the floor, 33% (8-for-24) from three-point range and 60% (12-for-20) from the foul line. 
- Washington had 39 rebounds and 15 turnovers.
- The Shoremen outscored the Nittany Lions in transition points (7-5) and bench points (13-6).
- Bland tied his career-best in points and set his personal-high in boards.
- Washington has won four in a row for the first time since January 2012 when the team won five straight.
