  • John Jay was able to take control over the game and led the Shoremen by as much as 13 halfway through the first half. They did not relinquish the lead as they went into halftime up 34-28 over the Shoremen. The Freshman pair, Nolan Waldon and Ty Woodland, both contributed nine points in the first half.
  • The Shoremen opened the half working to chip away at the John Jay lead. Waldon scored the first bucket of the half for the Shoremen from behind the three-point arc and followed that bucket up with a driving layup cutting the John Jay led to six, 39-33.
  • Woodland was able to score his first basket of the half as he gathered an offensive rebound and put it back up for two, the Shoremen trailed by four.
  • A made basket and two free throws extended the lead for John Jay as they started to pull away early in the second half.
  • Davis Bland hit a step back shot for two to end John Jay's 8-4 run. Ryan Lang and Waldon hit back-to-back threes to bring the Shoremen within three of John Jay. Precieux Tshibangu hit two free throws in the 11th minute of the half to bring the Shoremen within one, 48-47.
  • Immediately after the free throws, John Jay went on an 8-1 run to gain all the momentum they needed to put the game away. The Shoremen applied some pressure to John Jay, but it was not enough as they fell 70-56.
