FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Host #37 Mary Washington spoiled the dual season opener for visiting Washington College, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Tennis Center in a non-conference men's tennis match.

Doubles
- The 37th ranked Eagles won all three in doubles, all by an 8-4 score. The top flight finished first with Eagles' duo of
Rishi Charan Shankar and
Peter Leese, ranked 10th nationally and third in the Atlantic South Region, topping the Shoremen's
Karl Hoegstedt and
Jorge Urgal Zuleta. The Mary Washington tandem of
Brock Ladehoff and
Trevor Rein won at No. 2 over WC's
Ryohei Kawai and
Aaradith Ravichandran in the next double match to conclude. No. 3 doubles was the last to finish with the home side's
Albert Vladimirskiy and
Drew Campbell prevailing over
Kohl Perkins and
Johannes Ludwigstorff.
Singles

Jacob Pfab won the first singles match to finish at No. 6, with a 6-3, 6-3 win over
Tichi Chialva.

Ryan Meyer won at fifth singles over Ludwigstorff to clinch the match, 6-1, 6-0.

Andrew Cooper captured a pair of 6-3 wins at No. 4 singles to sweep Urgal Zuleta.
- Shankar, ranked 38th nationally and 11th in the region, downed Hoegstedt, 7-5, 6-2, in the fourth singles match to conclude at No. 1.
- Rein won a hard fought three set win over Ravichandran at No. 2 singles in the second to last singles match to finish, 7-6(4), 3-6, 10-8.
- Perkins got the Shoremen their lone victory of the match at third singles with a come-from-behind, 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-6 victory over
John Riordan.

- The #37 Eagles are now 2-0 on the season, while the Shoremen fall to 0-1.
- Mary Washington is named for the mother of George Washington.
