Junior men's swimmer
Zach Affeldt (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) and sophomore men's swimmer
Shane Brace (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) share this week's Shoreman of the Week. Both won a bronze medal at this weekend's 2024 Centennial Conference Swimming Championships in Gettysburg.
Affeldt earned bronze in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:02.35 for the first medal of the championships. The junior improved on his record time in the 400 individual medley twice on Saturday. Entering the day with a time of 4:04.21, he netted a time of 4:03.75 in the preliminary round and then tallied a better time in the final of 4:02.28 for a fourth-place finish. On Friday in the 200 individual medley, he recorded a time of 1:51.97, good for second all-time at Washington, and it earned a sixth-place finish.
Brace got bronze in the 200-butterfly with a time of 1:53.66 and is now third fastest in program history. He was also 13th in the 100 butterfly (51.60).
This is Affeldt's third and Brace's first career Shoreman of the Week honor.
