Shorewomen Score Most Goals Ever Against Bears in 20-13 Win

Wilson Tallies Career-Best Five Goals and Salvatierra Records Second Four Assist Game in Last Three

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Visiting Washington College used a 9-1 run spanning the second and third quarters to turn a 6-6 tie into a 15-7 lead on its way a 20-13 win over host Ursinus on Saturday afternoon at Patterson Field in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.  The 20 goals scored by the Shorewomen are the most ever against the Bears in the 34 all-time meetings.  The Shorewomen improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Bears are 4-4 in overall and 0-1 in Centennial play as it was the conference opener for both teams.

How It Happened
- Ursinus took an early 2-1 lead 2:04 into the first quarter on a Julia McCann free position goal.
- Washington would answer by scoring four of the final five goals of the first to take a 5-3 lead after one.  Piper Evans scored with four seconds left from Mia Salvatierra to give the Shorewomen a two-goal lead.  The sequence started when Salvatierra stole the ball for a caused turnover and got the ground ball before finding Evans.
- The Bears opened the second quarter with three of the first four scores to level the game at 6-6 with 10:48 remaining before halftime on an up free position goal Meghan Vizian.
- It would remained tied for just 74 seconds when Abby Laubach gave the Shorewomen the lead back at 7-6 and it would start a 6-0 run to finish the second to give the road side a 12-6 halftime lead.  Evans would cap the run with her third goal of the spurt with exactly one minute to go.
- After the Bears got the first goal of the third quarter, the Shorewomen scored the next three to grab a 15-7 lead with 7:37 left in the stanza on a Anna Wilson goal from Elisabeth Braswell.  Washington took a 17-9 lead heading into the fourth.
- Ursinus outscored WC in the fourth 4-3 to provide the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (7-2, 1-0 CC)
- Scoring: Anna Wilson (game-topping and career-high five goals), Salvatierra (four assists to tie for career-best and two goals for contest-high six points to tie personal-best), Evans (four goals to tie personal-high), Tobin Chambers (four scores), Braswell (three assists and four points to set personal-bests in both), Morgan Sutherland (two goals and assist)
- In Goal: McKenna Seashole (60:00, 14 saves, 13 goals allowed)
- Abby Laubach (game-high eight draws), MaryCate Anson (four ground balls) and Madison Maguire (two caused turnovers)  
- The Shorewomen had seven caused turnovers, while losing the ball 24 times.
- WC went 21-for-23 in clears, went 1-for-4 in free position shots and picked up 23 ground balls.

For Ursinus (4-4, 0-1 CC)
- Scoring: Grace Lynch (three goals and assist), McCann (three goals and three draws), Jamie Michaud (two goals, assist and three draws), Vizian (two goals, four ground balls and three draws), Maeve Leonzi (two goals)
- In Goal: Charlotte Grahame (28:56, three saves, 11 goals allowed), Camille Hubbs (31:04, one save, nine goals allowed)
- The Bears went 15-for-18 in clears and had 13 turnovers.
- Ursinus went 3-for-8 in free position chances, totaled 24 ground balls and recorded 10 caused turnovers.

Notes
- Prior to today, the prior high for WC for goals against Ursinus was 18, done on three occasions (2012, 2021 and 2023 CC Tournament).
- Washington has won six straight at Ursinus, prevailing in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2021, 2022 and this afternoon.
