Kinsey Goes Deep for Washington

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Host McDaniel pulled away from Washington College with a six-run bottom of the seventh inning to come away with a 14-4 win in seven innings due to the 10-run rule on Friday afternoon at Preston Field in Centennial Conference baseball action.  The Green Terror go to 20-13 on the season and 11-5 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen fall to 8-29 and 3-13 respectively.

How It Happened
- McDaniel took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of one out runs.  Joey Hubinger plated Robert Weer on a double to right-center first run.  The next hitter, Ben Davis knocked in Ethan Haddock on a ground out to second base for the second score of the frame.
- Washington got two in the top of the fourth as Reese Hirsh and Pete Kokinis scored a fielding error by the Green Terror with one away to tie it at 2-2.
- The Green Terror plated four two-out runs in last of the fourth to make it 6-2.  Hubinger drove in both Todd Calhoun and Shane Daly to break the tie and give the home team a 4-2 lead.  Hubinger would come around to score on a triple by Davis for a three-run lead Davis touched the dish on a Shea McKenna base hit to left to cap the four-run outburst.
- Drew Kinsey socked a solo home run to left with one out in the top of the fifth for the road side to cut the lead to 6-3. 
- In the bottom half of the fifth, Daly tripled to right-center to chase in both Calhoun and Weer with one away to give the Green Terror a five-run edge after five.
- Matt Lewis would single in Pete Kokinis on a base hit to left with nobody out to cut the lead to 8-4 in the top of the sixth.
- McDaniel would put the game away with a six-run last of the seventh to win by the 10-run rule.  The Green Terror ended the game on a one-out sacrifice fly by Daly that scored Kyle Carl for the walk-off run.

For The Shoremen (8-29, 3-13 CC)
- Hitting: Reese Hirsh (3-for-4, run), Kokinis (2-for-3, two runs, walk), Kinsey (2-for-4, home run, Will Turner (2-for-4)
- Pitching: Ashton Mehler (loss 0-4, 4 1/3 innings, 10 hits, eight runs, seven earned, five walks, three strikeouts)
- Washington had 11 hits and took four walks while leaving 10 on base. 
- The Shoremen had one error in the game, leading to one unearned runs for the Green Terror.

For McDaniel (20-13, 11-5 CC)
- Hitting: Hubinger (2-for-3, three RBI, two runs, two walks), Davis (2-for-4, three RBI, two runs, walk), Daly (2-for-4, three RBI, two runs), Haddock (2-for-5, two RBI), McKenna (2-for-3, two RBI)
- Pitching: Tyler Nercessian (win 3-0, three innings, three hits, zero runs, three walks, five strikeouts)
- The Green Terror notched 11 hits, drew four walks and had five get by hit by pitch in leaving 10 on base.
- McDaniel had two errors in the game, leading to three Washington runs.
