Shorewomen Lock Up Five Seed in CC Tournament in 18-14 Victory over Green Terror

Team Will Travel to Muhlenberg on Wednesday and Keelan Captures 150th All-Time Coaching Win

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Visiting Washington College outscored host McDaniel 9-3 in the second half to turn an 11–9 halftime deficit into an 18-14 win on Saturday afternoon at Gill Stadium in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.  The Shorewomen, who are the five seed will visit four seed Muhlenberg on Wednesday in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament, finish their regular season at 10-6 overall and 5-4 in the Centennial.  The Green Terror ends it season at 6-11 and 1-8 respectively.

How It Happened
- Trailing 3-2, McDaniel scored five of the final six goals to take a 7-4 lead at the end of the first quarter as Emma Legacy scored a down goal with a second left.  Gabby Kohr started the run with an unassisted goal with 7:40 left to tie it at 3-3 and Addison Utterback put the home side ahead 12 seconds later at 4-3.
- Washington would tie it at 7-7 just 2:17 into the second quarter on Morgan Sutherland's second goal in 59 seconds.
- The Green Terror netted the next four goals to take an 11-7 lead with Legacy giving the home squad a four-goal cushion with 4:07 for second goal in 10 ticks.
- Washington would get the last two of the second to cut it to 11-9 at halftime with Abby Laubach scoring with 2:42 left to round out the first half scoring.
- Down 12-10, the Shorewomen scored the final four goals of the third to take a 14-12 lead heading into the fourth on a Sutherland finisher with 50 seconds remaining.  Anna Wilson would tie it at 12-12 with 7:49 to go in the third and Valerie Rock would put the visitors ahead for good with 1:59 to play in the stanza on a feed from Mia Salvatierra.
- Rock would score 58 seconds into the fourth to make it 15-12 and cap Washington's 8-1 run. 
- McDaniel would tally two of the next three goals to cut the lead to 16-14 with 6:04 left on an up goal by Utterback.
- That's as close as McDaniel would get as Tobin Chambers and Salvatierra scored in a 28-second span of each other to give the Shorewomen a 18-14 advantage to round out the scoring.

For The Shorewomen (10-6, 5-4 CC)
- Scoring: Salvatierra (game-highs of three assists and eight points and tied for squad-best five goals), Sutherland (five goals to tie for team-high), Rock (three goals), Laubach (goal and two helpers), Chambers and Wilson (two goals)
- In Goal: McKenna Seashole (60:00, 11 saves, 14 goals allowed)
- Laubach (game-highs six ground balls, career-topping four caused turnovers and team-best seven draw controls)
- The Shorewomen outshot the Green Terror 40-32, won 19 of the game's 35 draws and had 10 caused turnovers.
- WC went 17-for-17 in clears, went 3-for-4 in free position shots and picked up 22 ground balls.

For McDaniel (6-11, 1-8 CC)
- Scoring: Legacy (six goals), Kat Thayer (three goals and assist), Utterback (two goals and assist), Gaby Kohr (two goals), Emma Miller (goal and helper)
- In Goal: Caleigh Kohr (60:00, 14 saves, 18 goals allowed)
- Miller (game-high 12 draws), Emily Conklin (game-best five caused turnovers and team-high five ground balls)
- The Green Terror went 18-for-20 in clears and had two more turnover than WC, 18-16.
- McDaniel went 3-for-7 in free position chances, totaled 18 ground balls and recorded 12 caused turnovers.

Notes
- Laubach now has 194 caused turnovers, just five behind Ellie Morrall '23 for second place.  Morrall had 199 in her career.  Emily Hubley '15 holds the WC record with 212.
- Head coach Meghan Keelan chalked up her 150th career win at Shepherd, Rhodes and Washington College.
- Muhlenberg earned the four seed against Washington due to its 11-8 win at Washington on April 6.  It will be the first time the two teams are meeting in the conference tournament.
