Shorewomen Set Program Mark for Victories in a Season by Withstanding Saints’ Late Charge, 3-2

Gavini, Kilbride and Whiteside Score for Washington

ARLINGTON, Va. – Visiting Washington College jumped out to a 3-0 lead and was able to hold off a pair of second half scores from host Marymount to register a 3-2 victory in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday evening at Long Bridge Park. With the win, the Shorewomen set the program record for wins in a season with nine and are now 9-4-2 on the season, while the Saints are 7-8-2.

How It Happened
- Sophie Kilbride put the Shorewomen ahead in the ninth minute on a shot from the right side to make it 1-0. 
- After a foul in the box by Marymount, Washington was awarded a penalty kick and Bridget Whiteside converted a penalty kick with 16:52 to go in the opening half for a two-goal lead. 
- The Shorewomen pushed the advantage to 3-0 just 1:37 later as Brianna Gavini headed in a corner kick by Mackenzie Coupe for Gavini's first career goal with 15:15 left in the stanza.
- Marymount scored twice in a 2:33 span of the second half to reduce the lead to one. The first goal came on a free kick from about 25 yards out at 71:34 and the second came on a penalty kick with 15:53 remaining in the contest.
- The Saints had one more shot with 4:05 to go, but Rylee Louden was there to save the shot and preserve the lead.

- Goalkeepers: Hailey Sharpe (3 saves, 1 goal allowed, 71:34), Louden (1 save, 1 goal allowed, 18:26)

Notes
- The team's previous high for victories in a campaign was eight, done in 2000, 2002 and 2018.
