CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Swarthmore scored the only goal of the game off of a penalty corner with 8:33 to go in the fourth quarter to come away with a 1-0 win over host Washington College on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in a Centennial Conference field hockey game. The Garnet is now 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen are 5-12 and 2-7 respectively.

How It Happened
- Swarthmore outscored Washington 4-3 in the first half as the game went to halftime tied 0-0.
- The Garnet had five of the six shots in the third, but could not find the back of the cage and it was scoreless heading into the fourth.
- Washington nearly took the lead 3:44 into the fourth quarter, but the shot by
Samantha McMahon was stopped just before it would have crossed the goal line by a Swarthmore defender.
- Swarthmore would break through with 6:27 into the fourth off of a corner that was tapped in near the goal line for the deciding tally. It would be the last shot of the game for either side.
