Saints Push Back Shorewomen, 59-55

Virginia Beach, VA- The Washington College Women's Basketball team battled with Marymount in their second day of their tip-off tournament. The Shorewomen were within one of the Saints twice in the second half, but Marymount held them off to take the game.

How It Happened 

  • Kaitlyn Boggs scored the first basket for the Shorewomen five minutes into the first period. The Shorewomen trailed early against Marymount, 5-2.  
  • A three pointer by Ellie Carter-Soriano tied the score with three minutes left in the period, 5-5. The Shorewomen caught the lead one minute later as Giulia Angeretti sunk a free throw after being fouled on a fast break steal and layup.  
  • Peyton Berger scored five points at the beginning in the second period to move the score to 13-12, the Shorewomen trailed by one.  
  • Marymount was able to pull away from the Shorewomen, scoring 20 points in the remaining minutes to go up 33-24 over the Shorewomen.  
  • Boggs scored six unanswered points to being the second half with Maggie Lawrence following her run up with a layup of her own. The Shorewomen were within one of Marymount, three minutes into the second half.  
  • A fastbreak three pointer by Taylor Shane to begin the fourth period had the Shorewomen within three, 47-44. Baskets by Berger and Carter-Soriano had the Shorewomen back within one with 3:46 left to play, 52-51.  
  • Marymount was able to hold the Shorewomen to only four more points as they scored seven more to end the game up, 59-52.
