CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College picked up a 6-1 victory over visiting Goucher to open the spring portion of the slate on Saturday night inside the Johnson Fitness Center in non-conference women's tennis action.

Doubles
- The Shorewomen won two of three in doubles to pick up the doubles point. Third doubles finished first as
Isabella Sorhegui and
Rose Greco notched the win due to the Gophers having to retire. The Gophers would win at first doubles over
Soleil Namunyola and
Sofia Sperandei, 7-5, to set up the second doubles for the winner-take-all point.
Gaby Coutts and
Carrie Lord were able to squeeze out a 7-6 (7-5) win at second doubles.
Singles
- Sixth singles was awarded to Lord who won in a walkover.
- In fifth singles,
Jayda Browne won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, in the freshman's first collegiate match.
- Sorhegui sealed the deal for the Shorewomen with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
- Namunyola took home a 7-5, 6-0 triumph at third singles to make it 5-0.
- Sperandei won 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) at second singles for WC's final win of the match.
- Goucher got 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) win over WC's
Eva Kading at the top flight.
Notes
- The Shorewomen are 1-0 on the season, while the Gophers are 2-1.
- The two Maryland schools were meeting for the first time since March 2019.
