CLEARWATER, Fla. – Washington College scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter to take an 11-9 lead and repelled a late Widener comeback attempt to net an 11-10 win on Tuesday in a non-conference women's lacrosse game played at Countryside Sports. The Shorewomen are now 2-5 on the season, while the Pride are 1-4.

How It Happened
- Widener scored three of the game's first four goals to take a 3-1 lead with 6:10 to go in the first quarter.
- Washington would respond with last goal of the first quarter by
Tobin Chambers from
Piper Evans with 5:34 to go to cut the lead to 3-2. The Shorewomen would then score the first four of the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead with 2:19 remaining on a
MaryCate Anson tally.
- The Pride would get one back with 10 seconds left before halftime to cut the lead to 6-4 at the break.
- After
Elisabeth Braswell scored 37 seconds into the third quarter to make it 7-4, Widener scored four of the final five goals of the third to tie it at 8-8 after three with a free position tally with 15 seconds left leveling the game.
- Widener scored the opening goal of the fourth to take a 9-8 lead with 12:42 to go on a down goal, before the Shorewomen scored three unanswered to grab an 11-9 advantage with 6:45 left on a Chambers goal.
Anna Wilson scored the first two in the run and her score with 8:46 remaining from Braswell put WC ahead for good at 10-9.
- The Pride got one back with 3:30 to go to trim the lead to 11-10.
- After a Washington turnover, Widener had one last chance in the final minute, but the Shorewomen prevented the Pride from getting off a game-tying shot attempt and came away with the one-goal triumph.
For The Shorewomen (2-5)
- Scoring: Wilson (game-high four goals), Evans (three goals and assist), Chambers (two goals),
Mia Salvatierra (two assists), Anson and Braswell (goal and helper)
- In Goal:
McKenna Seashole (60:00, seven saves, 10 goals)
- Anson (game-best eight draw controls), Chambers (four ground balls) and Salvatierra (two caused turnovers)
- WC went 13-for-15 in clears, went 0-for-6 in free position shots and picked up 19 ground balls.
- The Shorewomen totaled 33 shots and won 17 draw controls.
- Washington turned it over 19 times, while registering six caused turnovers.
Notes
- Salvatierra moves into the program's top 20 in career points with her two assists today. The junior now has 139 points and is 20th all-time at WC.
- Washington and Widener were meeting for the first time since 1999. The two programs met annually from 1988-99 and the Shorewomen now hold a 9-4 all-time series lead.
