#30 Captains Down Shorewomen, 6-1

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #30 Christopher Newport, ranked sixth in the Atlantic South Region, got past host Washington, 6-1, at the Schottland Tennis Center on Sunday in non-conference women's tennis action.

Doubles
- The Captains won all three doubles match to take the point. Second doubles was the first to finish as Christopher Newport topped Washington's duo of Sofia Sperandei and Carrie Lord by a 6-1 score. The top flight was the next match to end with a 6-1 result for the Captains' Raine Weis and Kylie Schaefer, ranked 15th nationally and second in the Atlantic South Region, versus Soleil Namunyola and Eva Kading. Third doubles was the final match to finish, and it was a 6-2 at third singles for the road side over Washington's Isabella Sorhegui and Jayda Browne.

Singles
- Fourth singles was awarded to the Shorewomen's Browne who due to a retirement by the Captains.
- In the first singles match to be played to conclusion, Christopher Newport's Weis, ranked 41st nationally and second in the region, topped Namunyola, 6-3, 6-1.
- Fifth singles was the next match to finish with the visitors grabbing a 6-2, 6-0 result over WC's Gaby Coutts.
- Christopher Newport clinched the win at third singles with a 6-1, 6-3 score against Sorhegui.
- Kading dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Schaefer, ranked 10th in the region in the second to last match to draw to a close.
- Sixth singles was the final match to be finished, and it was a 6-4, 6-1 win for the guests against Sperandei.

Notes
- The Shorewomen are 6-6 on the season, while the #30 Captains improve to 10-7.
