Shorewomen Take Down Bullets, 6-1

Browne Clinches Win at Four Singles

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College picked up the win in doubles and five of six matches in singles to top visiting Gettysburg 6-1 in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match on Saturday afternoon outdoors at the Schottland Tennis Center.

Doubles
- The Shorewomen took two of the three doubles to notch the doubles point. The Shorewomen won the opening doubles match, 6-1, at No. 3 with Isabella Sorhegui and Gaby Coutts earning the triumph. Gettysburg would level things at No. 2 in a 6-3 result versus WC's Sofia Sperandei and Carrie Lord. Doubles came down to the top flight and it was Soleil Namunyola and Eva Kading edging the Bullets' duo, 7-5.

Singles
- Kading coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 to give WC a 2-0 lead in the first singles match to come to a close.
- Sorhegui put the hosts one win away from a victory at 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph of her own at No. 3 singles.
- Browne secured the match for the home side at No. 4 with a pair of 6-2 scores.
- Sixth singles was a 6-4, 6-1 result for Coutts to put the Shorewomen ahead 5-0.
- The Bullets lone win came at the top spot and it was 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (13-11) decision against Namunyola.
- Sperandei would prevail 6-3, 7-5 in the final match to finish out at fifth singles.

Notes
- The Shorewomen are 7-7 overall and 4-2 in the Centennial, while the Bullets are 8-11 and 1-6 respectively.
