Waynesboro, PA – The Washington College Golf Team competed in the Centennial Conference Men's Golf Playoffs this past weekend. The team placed eighth and the best finisher on the weekend was John Matthai who finished tied for 29th .
How It Happened
Round 1:
- The team finished 36 over in round one and sat ahead of Ursinus after the first day.
- John Matthai, Matt Young, and Colby Byer finished plus six, plus seven, and plus eight respectively. Teddy Howard finished plus 15 on the day shooting an 87, and Avery Flubacher finished round one 23 over, shooting a 95.
Round 2:
- The Shoremen finished round two plus 61 as Ursinus was able to move ahead over the Shoremen shooting plus 38 on the day.
- Matthai shot an 84, 12 over, Young with an 86, 14 over, and Byer with an 87, 15 over. Flubacher shot a 92 on the day and Howard finished the day shooting a 97 for 25 over.
Round 3:
- In the final day of competition, the Shoremen finished 75 over moving their weekend total to +172.
- Byer finished the day shooting an 84 for 12 over, Matthai followed with an 87, 15 over. Young recorded a 95 on the day for 23 over and Howard and Flubacher each shot a 97 for 25 over par.
Matthai completed the weekend T29 shooting a combined 33 over. Followed by Byer who sat in 31st with 35 over. Young, Howard, and Flubacher took 38th, 29th, and 40th. Young ending the weekend 44 over, Howard at 65 over and Flubacher at 68 over.
