CARLISLE, Pa. – The Washington College softball team split a Centennial Conference doubleheader with host Dickinson at Dickinson Park in a pair of extra inning games. The Red Devils won the opener in nine innings, 3-2, while the Shorewomen took the second game in eight innings, 10-5. The Shorewomen are now 6-16 overall and 2-4 in the Centennial, while the Red Devils are 13-13 and 2-4 respectively.

How It Happened
- Mia Mavoides singled in the top of the third to record the first hit for the Shorewomen. She was left on base as the next batter grounded into a double play.
- Gracelyn Goforth singled to earn herself a base in the top of the fourth. She advanced to second as the next batter grounded out to the third baseman, but she was left there as the Red Devils pitcher struck out the next two batters.
- Julia Weglarz doubled in the top of the fifth and then stole third to put her in prime position for the Shorewomen offense.
Shannon Rosche was walked and the Shorewomen had two on base, but again the last batter was struck out leaving two on base for the Shorewomen.
- The Shorewomen would score their first run in the top of the eighth after forcing extra innings with the score held at 0-0.
Nevaeh Unzueta was placed on second in due to the tie break rule. Rosche reached first on a throwing error by the pitcher, scoring Unzueta and putting the first run of the game on the board, 1-0. The Shorewomen could only bat in that run as they moved to the bottom of the eighth.
- Dickinson was able to score one run in the bottom of the eighth tying the score at 1-1.
Emmie Meeks and Unzueta recorded the final outs for the Shorewomen defense sending the game to a ninth inning.
- Goforth sat on second as
Lilly Cook grounded out on a sacrifice bunt to the third baseman, advancing Goforth.
Lilly Wenzel was the next batter up and singled sending Goforth home. The Shorewomen led, 2-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth.
- Dickinson earned two runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk-off game one, 3-2.

How It Happened
- Trailing 2-0 entering the top of the fourth inning, the Shorewomen scored four runs to grab a 4-2 lead. With nobody out, Wenzel singled to left to score both Goforth and
Lilly Cook. After the next two were hitters retired, the visitors took the one-run lead on a base hit by Unzueta through the right side to plate Wenzel. The four-run frame was capped on a Rosche RBI hit to center that scored Unzueta.
- The Red Devils scored a run each in the bottom of the sixth and seventh with two outs to level the game at 4-4.
- In the top of the eighth, Washington ignited with a six-run outburst to take a 10-4 lead.
Jenna Harper came home on a throwing error to put the road side ahead for good at 5-4. The next hitter, Rosche tallied a base hit through the right side to plate Unzueta to make it a two-run game. With one away, Goforth socked a bases clearing triple to right-center to chase in Rosche, Mavoides and
Chloe Trefz gave the Shorewomen a 9-4 advantage. Goforth would come home on a two-out double left by Wenzel to cap the six-run outburst.
- Dickinson got one back in the bottom of the eighth with two outs, but could draw no closer and the Shorewomen got the five-run victory to land a split.
