#50 Fords Top Shorewomen, 7-0

Browne and Sorhegui Win in Doubles

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Host #50 Haverford topped visiting Washington College, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Bettye Marshall Tennis Courts in Centennial Conference women's tennis action.

Doubles
- The Fords won two of three in doubles to grab the doubles' point take a 1-0 lead heading into singles.  Second doubles was the first to finish and it was a 6-1 win for Haverford over Washington's Carrie Lord and Sofia Sperandei. The Shorewomen evened doubles with a win at third with Isabella Sorhegui and Jayda Browne chalking up a 6-4 victory as it would come down to the top flight to determine who won doubles. No. 1 went to a tiebreaker and Haverford's 10th ranked Atlantic South Region duo of Rachael Fitzgerald and Malika Reddy took it 7-6 (7-5) against Eva Kading and Soleil Namunyola. 

Singles
- At the top flight, the Fords' Fitzgerald, ranked 20th in the Atlantic South Region, bested Namunyola, 6-0, 6-3. 
- The home side won at No. 2 singles in the next match to come to a conclusion, 6-1, 6-0 versus Kading.
- Third singles won the match for Haverford, 6-0, 6-1 against Sorhegui.
- In six singles, the Fords topped Gaby Coutts, 6-2, 6-1 in the fourth match to end.
- In the penultimate match, fifth singles, Haverford prevailed 6-3, 6-2 over Sperandei.
- Fourth singles was the final match to finish and the hosts came away with a 7-5, 6-2 result on Browne.

Notes
- The Fords, ranked 50th nationally and ninth in the Atlantic South Region, are 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen are 5-5 and 2-1 respectively.
