NEW YORK - Six Washington College men's rowing student-athletes have been named 2025 Empacher-IRCA (Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association) Scholar-Athletes.
To be eligible to be a scholar-athlete, student-athletes must be at least in their second year of eligibility, earn a cumulative academic grade-point average of 3.50 or greater, from a member IRCA school and competed in the program's top three boats during the season or at the 2025 IRA Championship. 2025 graduates Patrick Beene (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock), Nick Gardner (Orlando, Fla./home school) and Noah Gentry (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) join rising senior Andrew Ellestad (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and rising juniors Robby Donnelly (Arnold, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) and Kit Yim (Yardley, Pa./Doane Academy [N.J.]) in being named a scholar-athlete. Gentry, a Political Science and Philosophy major, is a two-time honoree as he earned a spot in 2023, while Beene, a Business Management major, Donnelly, a Chemistry and Environmental Science major, Ellestad, an Environmental Science and Anthropology major, Gardner, an Environmental Studies and Economics major, and Yim, a Biology and Ecology major, are all first-time recipients of the award.  Â
