CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College took visiting #3 Salisbury to overtime before the visiting Sea Gulls scored 4:11 into the overtime session to come away with a 1-0 win over the Shorewomen in a non-conference field hockey game on Wednesday evening on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. How It Happened
- Washington had all five penalty corners in the opening quarter and held a 3-1 shot advantage in the first 15 minutes.
- The Sea Gulls held a 2-1 edge in shots in the second quarter as the game went to halftime scoreless.
- In the third, Salisbury held an 8-1 edge in shots and 5-2 advantage in penalty corners, but could not score and it was level heading into the fourth.
- WC nearly took the lead with 8:57 left in the fourth stanza as MaryCate Anson's shot near the right post was turned away by a Salisbury defender for a defensive save.
- In the waning seconds of regulation, the Sea Gulls had a chance for a winner, but Charlotte Schurman turned away the shot off of restart with 13 seconds left to force overtime.
- WC had two shots in the overtime period, both by Tyler Rice.  Rice deked the goalie on the first one and lofted a shot from about 10 yards out on the right side that had to get past two defenders, but the first of the two defenders knocked it down with 3:29 remaining.  Washington earned a corner off the sequence.
- Off the corner, Rice redirected an Anson pass, but it went just wide to the right with 6:19 to go in the extra period.
- The Sea Gulls winning goal started in transition as a long pass connected on the breakaway and the ball was placed into the right side of the cage for the lone score of the night.
