Trap & Skeet Improve Team Score By Five Targets In A Week At Marvin Coppage ATA

Chestertown, MD- The Washington College Trap & Skeet attend the Marvin Coppage Memorial Shoot at Kent County Gun Club. This is a non collegiate Amateur Trapshooting Association event open to all active ATA members.

WCTS athletes participated in the trap singles event which is referred to as American Trap by ACUI/SCTP, the governing body of collegiate shooting.

The two WCTS squads had adverse conditions with variable wind and rain making the birds hard to see but that didn't stop the Shoremen and Shorewoman. Gracie Heintzelman '28 led the team with a 92/100 and was followed closely by Trice Moore '28 who posted a 91/100. Marcus Rosenstiel '28 and Jeffrey Paes '29 both crushed 90/100 and captain Chris Johnson '26 rounded out the top 5 with an 88/100. A team score would have been calculated at 451/500 a five target improvement from last weekend.

WCTS had a surprise visit from Interim President Bryan Matthews '75 at the range. President Matthews spent some time with the team and was able to learn about the changes to the program that have occurred since he retired from his last role as Director of Athletics in 2016. WCTS looks forward to working with Interim President Matthews as he guides Washington College forward over the next two years.

Washington College Trap & Skeet will continue the National Governing Body registered target portion of their season. The team will compete September 19/20 at Sudlersville Skeet Club, the team's home range, in the 79th Delmarva Open (NSSA).
