Trice Moore Named Class D and Collegiate Champion at MD State Skeet Shoot

Glen Dale, MD - The Washington College Trap & Skeet attend the Maryland State Skeet Championship at Prince George's County Trap and Skeet Center. This is a non collegiate National Skeet Shooting Association event open to all active NSSA members.

WCTS athletes participated in the 12 Gauge skeet event which is referred to as American Skeet by ACUI/SCTP, the governing body of collegiate shooting.

The two WCTS squads were broken over two rotations for the 100 target event. The first squad began shortly after arriving and the second squad followed about one and a half hours later. Bright sun and light wind made the targets easy to see for the Shoremen and Shorewoman. Squad one was led by senior captain Colin Krug '26 who broke a 88 and junior Max McNulty '27 who led the squad with 90 targets smashed.

As soon as the first squad finished the second squad took to the same field led by senior captain Chris Johnson '26 who broke a 84/100. Marcus Rosenstiel '28 posted the high score for the squad with 95 and he was followed closely by Trice Moore '28 with a solid 91. A team score would have been calculated at 449/500.

The afternoon brought storms that postponed and eventually canceled the remainder of the day's events and prohibited shootoffs to determine winners. The MSSA elected to move all shootoffs to Sunday, prohibiting WCTS athletes from participating. The final standings were posted on Sunday and WCTS athletes came away with multiple medals in class and concurrent. Trice Moore was crowned Maryland D Class champion and collegiate champion. Colin Krug was unable to attend his shootoff and finished 3rd in E class and 2nd in collegiate. Chris Johnson rounded out the collegiate with a 3rd place finish.

Washington College Trap and Skeet would like to thank the staff of Prince George's County Trap and Skeet Center for their hospitality as they are always welcoming to the team during their registered events. We would also like to thank the Maryland State Skeet Shooting Association for allowing us to participate in the event.
