SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore used a 12-0 first half to take control of the game on its way to an 87-69 win against visiting Washington College at Tarble Pavilion in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game on Wednesday night. The Garnet improves to 13-9 overall and 7-3 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen drop to 10-12 and 0-10 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen jumped out to an 8-2 lead 3:11 into the game on a
Jon Nalty free throw.
- Trailing 14-9 following a layup by the guests'
DJay Snead, the Garnet rolled off 12 straight points to grab a 21-14 advantage of three free throws by the home side with 9:29 remaining in the first half.
- Swarrthmore would take a 47-30 lead into halftime, converting a second chance layup at the buzzer to round out the scoring in the stanza.
- In the second half, Washington would open with six of the first eight points to trim the deficit to just 13, 49-36, on a
Max Portnoy three 78 seconds in.
- That's as close as the Shoremen would gets as the Garnet outscored the Shoremen 38-33 the rest of the way to provide the final margin.

- Washington shot 37% (23-for-62) from the floor, 30% from three-point range (7-for-23) and 64% from the foul stripe (16-for-25).
- The Shoremen had 31 rebounds and only six turnovers in the game, while outscoring the Garnet in points off of turnovers, 16-13.
