FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Washington College captured a 16-10 victory over Monmouth (Ill.) in a non-conference baseball contest on Wednesday afternoon at the Lawnwood Complex.

How It Happened
- After Monmouth scored on a one out triple in the top of the first inning with one away, Washington responded with three in the last of the first to take a 3-1 lead after one.
Ty Everitt worked out a bases loaded walk with two away to score
Ty Powell and the next hitter,
Brett Connolly singled to right to deliver both
Chase Ruppel and
Brady Wozniak.
- Two innings later the Shoremen got another two out run as
Tahir Parker plated Wozniak on a single to left to push the advantage to 4-1.
- The Fighting Scots evened the game at 4-4 on a three-run homer in the top of the fourth with nobody out.
- Ruppel answered with a solo homer in the bottom of the frame to make it 5-4 leading off the frame and a dropped pop out with two outs allowed
Alex Dardaris to score to give WC a 6-4 lead after four.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Shoremen scored five runs with five straight hitters getting an RBI to push the lead to 11-4. Connolly's two-out double to left-center scoring Everitt capped the outburst.
- Monmouth got five in the top half of the seventh, capping it with a two-run homer with one away to trim the Washington lead to 11-9.
- In the bottom half of the inning, the Shoremen got three back to extend their lead to 14-9 with a two-run one out single by Timmons highlighting the inning that chased home Connolly and Everitt.
- In the eighth, Monmouth got one before Washington tacked on two to provide the final margin, both of WC's runs coming on solo homers by Ruppel and Dardaris. Ruppel's homer gives him 24 for his career and is now the program's all-time leader in longballs.

- Washington had 16 hits, totaled eight walks and had four get on via hit by pitch while leaving 11 on base.
- The Shoremen had one error in the game, leading to one unearned run for Monmouth.
