FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Washington College baseball team concluded its Florida trip with a 12-2 win in eight innings over Thiel on Saturday at the Lawnwood Complex due to the 10-run rule. The Shoremen improve to 8-7 with the win as the team went 5-3 during the week, while the Tomcats slip to 2-9.

How It Happened
- Washington wasted little time with a three-run top of the first inning.
Matt Lewis scored on a one-out base hit to left by
Brett Connolly for the first run. Three hitters later with two runners aboard,
Dino DiMauro posted a two-run single through the right side to drive in both Connolly and
Chase Ruppel to make it 3-0 with two away.
- After Thiel got one in the last of the first, the Shoremen tacked on three in the top of the second with
Wyatt Uhde scoring on a throwing error for the first run of the frame with nobody out. Kinsey made it 5-1 on a sacrifice fly to left by Connolly with one out.
Matt Lewis would cap the three-run second scoring on a wild pitch to make it 6-1.
- Washington would add one in the top of the fifth before the Tomcats got one in the last of the sixth to make it 7-2 after six.
- The Shoremen put the game away with a five-run top of the eighth as Uhde scored the first run of the inning on a
Matt Lewis double and
Ty Everitt scored on a caught stealing for the fifth and final run to make it 12-2. Thiel could not push a run across in its half of the eighth and the game ended due to the 10-run rule.

- Washington had one error in the game, leading to one unearned run for Thiel.
