Shorewomen Softball Falls To Catholic On The Road

Washington, DC– Washington College Softball fell to Catholic in road doubleheader. Catholic took game two in five innings and held the Shorewomen to one in game two.  

Game 1: Washington College 2 Catholic 10 - (5 innings) 

How It Happened 

  • Catholic scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning.  
  • In the top of the second, Emma Trainer singled to left field. She then stole second before Becca Foulk reached base on a fielder's choice. Foulk was able to steal second as well. Grace Allen singled up the middle, sending both Trainer and Foulk home to put the Shorewomen on the board, 5-2.  
  • Catholic scored two runs in the bottom of the second to go up 7-2 over the Shorewomen.  
  • Jenna Harper and Foulk combined for the last two hits for the Shorewomen in the top of the third and top of the fourth. Both were left on base as Catholic took game one in five innings, 10-2.  

For the Shorewomen (5-8)  
Batting: Grace Allen (1 hit, 2 RBI) 
Pitching: Emmie Meeks (2.0 innings pitched, 1 strikeout), Katie Tribbitt (2.2 innings pitched) 

Game 2: Washington College 1 Catholic 7 

How It Happened 

  • Catholic led 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth inning. Lilly Wenzel homered to left center field to put the Shorewomen on the board, 2-1.  
  • Catholic scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as their answer, 5-1.  
  • Lindsay Worley earned first base with a bunt in the top of the fifth inning. She was thrown out in a steal attempt. Catholic scored one in the bottom of the same inning to extend their lead, 6-1.  
  • The Shorewomen had one hit in the top of the seventh as Julia Weglarz singled to left field. She was left on base as Catholic recorded the final out of the game and took game two, 7-1.  

For the Shorewomen (5-9)  
Batting: Lilly Wenzel (1 hit, 1 RBI, 1 home run) 
Pitching: Anna Hutchison (5.0 innings pitched, 1 strikeout) 

Up Next: 
The Shorewomen will host Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, March 21st for a doubleheader at 1 and 3 PM.
